MEMBER FOCUS: Casey Yoshida
SINCE THE START of Covid-19, Art Director of Southside Creative, Casey Yoshida, has utilized the power of photography to support, uplift, and connect people to local businesses. His work is celebratory, capturing the beauty and resiliency of the Chattanooga community.
HIS PASSION for photography began in childhood while flipping through pages of Vogue and Vanity Fair. Casey went on to study graphic design in college and there, he fell in love with portrait photography: “Humans are so unique, beautiful, and complex. Whenever there are people around, I have my camera in hand.”
IN MARCH, he and his team launched the “Here to Stay” campaign (link in bio), which spotlights the kitchen frontlines of beloved Southside restaurants. Visually stunning, their series serves as an important timestamp documenting the stories and people who have kept us healthy and nourished during these unprecedented times.
TO CASEY, the keystone to Chattanooga’s strength is its people: “I don’t think a Chattanoogan spirit can be broken. I really don’t. I think that the sense of community and love is so strong here that if the last few months can’t break this city, then I don’t think anything can.”
