MEMBER FOCUS: Wilson Craig
WILSON IS a go-getter. Until last year, selling canned cocktails with real distilled spirits was illegal in VA, despite consumer interest and demand. Tenaciously, Wilson testified in the House and Senate. The law was changed; Waterbird was born. ⠀
⠀
HIGH QUALITY is his bread and butter. Only 1% of vodkas sold are made with potatoes. Large distilleries cut corners with wheat and corn to reduce cost—not Waterbird. Each of his cocktails are crafted with real potatoes, giving them their signature smooth taste.⠀
⠀
INSPIRATION STRUCK at Whole Foods. Before Wilson settled on a company name, he knew he wanted to tie in the location of his distillery on Water Street. While staring at wine, the phrase “wet your beak” came to mind. Then came the lightbulb moment: Waterbird!⠀
⠀
WATERBIRD is spreading their wings to new locations: Chattanooga, Nashville, Knoxville, Atlanta, and the DMV, expanding product lines and distribution channels. Currently you can find them in Wegmans, Kroger, Beer Run, and Kardinal Hall, among others. No matter the scope of their expansion, Wilson is intentional in maintaining his OG flagship in CVille.
