Staff Focus: Christian Waldron

We recently caught up with Chef Christian Waldron, who started as the Senior Sous and Pastry Chef at Common House Charlottesville before moving to Chattanooga to become our Chef de Cuisine (CDC) in April 2023. Check out his full feature below.

Where are you from? Give us a little back story

I was born in Long Island New York and lived my childhood years there. Then I spent a majority of my life in metro Atlanta working in many types of kitchens. I've been working in the industry since I was 16 and am still loving it.

How are you liking Chattanooga?

I’m liking it a lot so far; it's really nice being close to family and old friends. The town is quite gorgeous with all the mountains and flush with greenery during the summer, which I love.

What are you most excited about in your new role as cdc?

I find the culinary world so interesting and vast with so many things to learn. I’m excited to teach the staff on new styles and techniques of cooking and creating great flavors that are unique but also classic and comforting to all. I’m excited to showcase my talent to members and staff alike!

Tell us a little about the summer menu.

Summer menu is going really well! I’m working with local farmers to give us the best produce and product as possible. Lots of tomatoes and fresh flavors are coming to this menu. Take a look here.

What’s a fun fact about your life that you’d like to share?

I’ve wanted to be a chef since I was about 5 years old. All I wanted to do was serve great food to great people and have a great mustache! I feel like I’m living out my childhood dream which I think is pretty rare for a lot of people.
